Suture:

The suture is the position on the surface of the test where the septa join the wall of the test. With reference to the surface of the test, the sutures can either be depressed, lie in the same plane, or above the surface of the test.

Thickened sutures are called limbate. Sutures may be straight, bent, S-shaped sigmoidal, or follow a quite irregular path. The nature of the expression of the suture over the surface of the test can be smooth, raised, or depressed.

Types of suture:

There are two types of suture present in foraminifera,

  • Chamber suture
  • Spiral suture

Chamber suture: Divide the chamber of the same whorl.
